I've decided the BME academic advisor is pretty high up there on the list of the strangest people I've meet. In addition to sending out Dead week haikus at the end of last semester I just got this: I will be out of the office tomorrow. I have to shave my cat and then take him to a tanning salon. See you Tuesday. Paul I have no idea if that's a joke or not, but either way it's damn peculiar. Wed, Dec. 5th, 2007, 04:51 pm

I have actually maxed out my 500 limit Netflix queue. You know what that means...I don't watch nearly enough movies, I need to get on that. Thu, Nov. 1st, 2007, 02:52 pm
Word of the day: multitask - v. the act of making it look like you are doing multiple things in an effort to hide the fact that you are actually not doing anything. Mon, Sep. 3rd, 2007, 12:30 am
From my Rush application: 7. List interests (outside of academics) in order of importance to you, with a. being the most important: a. Theater/film b. Science fiction watching/reading/writing c. Settlers of Catan d. Harry Potter e. Music ...no, I am not kidding. I have really lost my fucking mind, but hey, I'm certainly not going to put in some trite lie about helping people. Oh well, maybe this is the stuff they want. Whatever, I'm done trying to figure these people out. At least that's one done, with ten minutes to spare, too. Mon, Aug. 20th, 2007, 08:03 pmPray for my mother if that's something you believe in, because there is nothing I can do. Mon, Jun. 4th, 2007, 07:18 pm
Why must everything be difficult? Why must I be so worthless, I don't even deserve a reply? Why must I be such a whiny baby? All excellent questions, too bad I haven't an answer for any... Fri, Jun. 1st, 2007, 06:18 pm
"Round the world! There is much in that sound to inspire proud feelings; but whereto does all that circumnavigation conduct? Only through numberless perils to the very point whence we started, where those that we left behind secure, were all the time before us." -Moby Dick Tue, May. 1st, 2007, 12:19 am

I finished my short story. I still want to edit it a bit more, but I'm pretty satisfied, for the most part. So that kind of came out of nowhere; it seems like there was so much more to write and then, all of a sudden, it was done. It looks like I'm going to get it done in under 4 years, not bad. If I could just finish Moby Dick, I'd be tying up all sorts of lose ends. The past few days have been going by really slow. I can't decide if I want that to continue or not. I really want the semester to be over, but there is so much to do before it does, the sluggishness of time is working in my favor, although it's probably just lulling me into a false sense of security, so everything can blow up in my face. My experiments are not going well. My allotted time expires this weekend, I think. Not that it actually matters, nothing happens at that point, as Nael just created the deadline out of nowhere, during the busiest time of the semester, so that was nice, but it doesn't mean anything. I say so a lot, don't I? Hmm, oh well. I think it needs to be bed time. Nighty night.

So no Loyola for me this summer. Systems Phys is totally kicking my ass. I'm not doing great physically, either. I'm always hungry, but anything I eat makes me feel sick, and once that passes, I'm hungry again. Ugg. I still haven't finished my personal statement; I have a couple weeks before that becomes a serious problem. I just don't have the energy, nor any idea what I'm going to write about. I'm feeling especially crazy, too. I am reading WAY to much in to everything everyone does, taking everything personally, and then getting upset about it. Everyone in the lab is going to Six Flags on Thursday. Even though I hate rollercoasters, I think it would be really nice just to get away from this place for awhile. Unfortunately, it is very likely that we'll have a pop quiz in systems phys on Thursday, so I can't risk not going to class. Yeah, I know, who gives a fuck if I can't go to six flags? Well, I do. So, I'm thrilled to be back in Atlanta, of course, except that I have three tests this week, which came as quite a surprise to me. Combining with those the lab report, presentation, experimental design, and design proposal that are all due before next Tuesday and the new project Dr. McCarty just gave me with the instructions "this should be done in three weeks, preferably two", I had quite a slap in the face returning from a week of doing no work whatsoever, unless you count reading Harry Potter, which I don't (and which I'm now all caught up with, by the way; Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince in less than a week, quite a feat given how slow I usually read). I also have not completed my personal statement, research overview, or story, all of which I decided I would do over break...shocking, I know. So now I'm going to go get some food and play Tie Fighter, as I still have eleven whole hours before test 1. Au revoir, mes amies. PS - Apparently, Live Journal doesn't have a French spell check, how disappointing. Mon, Mar. 12th, 2007, 12:02 am
...and we're five for five. I just want to leave this fucking place. Thu, Mar. 8th, 2007, 09:57 pm
I'm beginning to think youtube is a new low point in the course of human civilization, not only due to the absurd and degrading things people choose to show to the an enormous portion of the world population, but also the people, myself included, who actually watch the absurd and degrading things people broadcast to the world. We think we've come so far since the days of gladiator fights in the Colosseum, but, in the end, human suffering seems to entertain as much as ever. |
